A new thing from me. Amazing what thinking about the future, preparing to film your own movie, and watching some good friends prepare to graduate can allow you to write.
"Sales Tax"
A bad case of hiccups
and dead batteries
bad things always come in plurals you see
that's a little misleading
and why I could never spot the trouble girls, oh
You'll never amount to anything
she lied to me from the beginning
see, I have a buck 33 on me and at least a quarter at home
You're destined, so don't pretend, that you won't spend life alone
watching Cusack woo Ms.Skye and singing Time of Your Life
My mind is filled with useless facts
like quarterbacks and math and sales tax
call me cliche call me obtuse call me a loser I won't lose to you
just let me revel in the fact that
every dog has its day
every dog has its day
Sigh and whine and cry
about being dumped by a guy
don't bring me your problems
Lord knows, I have enough of my own ones
I know I have problems
Ol' 3EB never lied to me
It's a semi charmed life when it wants to be
I've got a chip on my shoulder, feel like the world owes me
I'm cursed, like all the young ones are
none of us will ever be stars
My mind is filled with useless facts
like quarterbacks and math and sales tax
call me cliche call me obtuse call me a loser I won't lose to you
just let me revel in the fact that
every dog has its day
every dog has its day
Cursed like all the young ones are
Murphy's Law applies to me
She said I'll never be worth anything
that was a lie, I got a buck 33
My mind is filled with useless facts
like quarterbacks and math and sales tax
call me cliche call me obtuse call me a loser I won't lose to you
just let me revel in the fact that
every dog has its day
every dog has its day
My mind is filled with useless facts
like quarterbacks, math and sales tax...

I just hope you know, you're my favorite thing, about the west coast.
I'm not sure who this is about. Just fiddling with the idea of writing a standard "Out West Sucks" type of song, heh.
"Let You Down"
She said
"Sit down, I've gotta tell you some big news
I'm moving away, to Cali, where all the skies are blue"
I replied with "That's swell
I hope the new life finds you well"
Not to sound, too cliche, but this news makes me blue
Oh don't go away
until we have our chance
Oh don't go away
until we have our chance
Tennessee's got nothing left for me right now
cause you were only ten I saw
and now you've let me down
I got a postcard from you
saying the new life treats you well
but it was watermarked with tears
and you told me to visit soon
Oh you went away
but I take this postcard as a SOS
Oh you went away
but I take this postcard as a SOS
I'm on my way to save the day
I'm gonna be the hero now
Pack up all of my belongings
take them in a car
and head out west
West, to rescue you
from what you
are afraid to become
you had such big big plans
it's a shame
they let you down
I'll never let you down
I'll never let you down
I'll never let you down...
On the way back home,
to Tennessee
we listened to the radio
Third Eye Blind and Journey
you're the only ten I see,
the only one that's a ten for me
so rest your head upon my shoulder
you can try again when you get older

You are slipping through my fingers and into the airwaves...
This is a little something I've cooked up in the midst of writing my film script, failing trigonometry, and ruining friendships.
"Ellipses"
I know ellipses are my best tool
my best friend, they're my golden rule
but I can't use them in the real world
Your ears were small
and my heart was big
unfortunately, so was my mouth
and you see what that lead to
I began to say your name
with a capital letter
then I upset you, then I made you better
and now I don't say your name at all
Ellipses are my closest friend
I use them the most
it's a shame, you can't use them
when you need them the most
Can't let this hang here
without a series finale
Can't let you go away
without a series finale
Ending a friendship
isn't exactly the hardest thing I've ever
had to do
it's just so hard when I'm ending it with you
Tacking on those three little dots
I've grown, to love so much
onto the end of our rushed statements
Got my thoughts out, you got your feelings out
as we end we both give it a shout
we can't let it hang like this
Ellipses aren't the best solution
can't edit what I've said like a piece of my writing
Ellipses aren't the best solution
this ain't no season, no cliffhanger will do
we need a series finale
I can't use no ellipses with you

It's sitting by the overcoat, the second self, the note she wrote, that I can't bring myself to throw away...
A lot of personal events are influencing my writing lately. More than usual, at least.
"Moving Out(Happy Lie)"
I'm bracing myself
and letting go
and holding on tight
for the fall that will follow
You're clinging on to me
or what's left
after you've had your way
You know just what to do
to make me crumble
with the words you say
But I've seen the light
and I've seen the distance
and I'm full of fright
and I'm taking a big chance
I'm moving out
into the open
towards where the honey lies
I'm moving out
into the open
away from this happy lie
I've disillusioned myself
and trying to fool everyone else
Excuses only work for so long
till they collapse on the lies they were built on
Holding myself
to blame, I'll take it for sure this time
I'm not sure
where I'm going
but I'll know when I get there cause
I'm moving out
into the open
towards where the honey lies
I'm moving out
into the open
away from this happy lie
Doubt is filling my mind
on what I've done
have I wasted time
The answer is no
it's just simple
there's no more room for me to grow
Unless I move out,
and go towards where the honey lies
Unless I move out,
and go away, from this happy lie

When she says she wants somebody else, I hope you know, she doesn't mean you.
I actually wrote this one...let's see...today's Saturday night...so not yesterday night(friday night), but the Friday before that.
It's really cheesy, I won't lie. I liked it then, but now, not so much.
"View From The Back"
She said just tell her, tell her, tell her what was wrong
I said I've liked you, I've liked you, I've liked you all along
All of the jokes and my generosity
Oh baby, Oh baby, Oh baby can't you see
I hate the fights they tear me down inside
You should've seen me later
Seen the effects; it took a toll on me all night
I hate the way we leave it as a joke
You should see in my head
Oh, tell me where to go
I know, I know, I know
it can't happen
I know, I know, I know
it can't happen
Stuck as a prisoner of the time we're in
it's not a good time oh no
don't have to tell me twice
Stuck as a prisoner of the circumstance
I feel like telling you
but honey what good will it do
Jokes and laughter and fights and after
we will remain friends
Stuck in a rut here
I'm going nowhere
Arm in arm with her
You're arm in arm with him
You have no idea now
about my emotions
Hit my arm, ask me what was wrong
hit my arm, said you can tell there's something wrong
Hit my arm, ask me is it you
Hit my arm, ask me what was wrong
Ask me, ask me, ask me what was wrong
I asked you as a joke and I got spurned
I asked you and 'twas a lesson that I learned
so ask me, ask me, ask me what was wrong
I'll say nothing and you'll laugh and hit my arm.

You say, I only hear what I want to.
Here's something I wrote in class today. Just a little thing, for inclusion in a possible story of mine, and it also shows off my writing pretty well, I think.
I'm not sure why. It really just works really well I feel and displays what's in my head right now perfectly. I really hope it gets a good response. I also am starving for a title for this one. It feels incomplete without one. Suggestions?
Magic used to fascinate me
Now I'm into simpler things
Like the thought process of the human brain
and the government or insanity
She's in a better place
It's what they say
For the state of our world's in a disarray
Capture the sun and keep it in you
Release that fear of what is untrue
Deceit me, who do you always give me
False hope, I can not take
Much more, don't know what I'm
Striving for
Problems surround us but the sky is still blue
Can't stand our shortcomings but I'd love to stand with you
Happy with just coffee looking eye to eye with you
I don't know how you do it but worries disappear with you
Rip out our insecurities and toss them away
My whole world is crashing down
We don't need it anyway
You've changed my point of view...

And we both look back on it, as bad timing, that's all.
I was writing the other day, and I wrote a pop song. An interesting pop song relating to my life, but my gosh. A pop song! Cliche and everything!
This is not that pop song. This is completely different. That song will probably never see the light of day.
"Regrets"
Making promises that we all know
we couldn't keep
Winking like we knew a bigger secret
actin' like all our thoughts were deep
Lookin' back now I see that it was all wrong
Lookin' back now I wonder where the years have gone
Oh, I don't know why
But I've changed so much
and I don't know why
but I feel like I've lost touch
With myself, and my friends
did the means justify the ends?
I've lost, and I've won
but I hate that I've the wisdom to see that I was wrong
Oh, the bottle is empty now
and just like our old fairy tales
well, I'll toss it out
Borrowing money, borrowing time
You know it won't last forever
Borrowing money on borrowed time
Oh, dear Lord, when will they get it together
With yourselves, and with your friends
did the means, justify the ends?
You've lost, so much more than you've won
and though you got it, you don't use your wisdom
Oh, oh, won't always be someone to save you
Oh, oh, won't always be someone to save you
Borrowing all of your money
Living on borrowed time
Gotta make it, make it better
Cause man I gotta tell ya,
my respect for you is dyin'
Lookin' back now, I think I've lost touch
worked so hard, lost so much
Lost myself, feel like I'm losing all my friends
This house is not a home
It's not a place to live in
And, tell me now, when we reach the end
will we all have worked it out?
And, tell me now, when we reach the end
will we all have worked it out?
This is not that pop song. This is completely different. That song will probably never see the light of day.

I guess the winter makes you laugh a little slower.
So, a post that's not a piece of writing. Rather, it is, but it's more of my views on writing.
Somebody brought it up the other day that writers are not egomaniacs. This statement is true, to an extent. While I'm not one to brag about my writing, I feel the underlying reason anyone writes, including myself, is because writers are egotistical in nature. I speak for myself and myself only when I say that I write because I feel I have something I need to tell the world, that the world needs and wants to hear.
If that's not egotistical, I don't know what it is. Who else not only thinks that the world wants to know their thoughts, but then puts them out there for the world, other than writers?
Now, I also feel I owe it to the world to put my writings out there. Who knows what that says about me...
I lied. I do want to share this with everyone. I know, this one really isn't that great, at all. The previous ones were MUCH better. But, it was a piece of prose, of just random thoughts. Posting them here might help me get them in order to write a full thing out on one of them. Maybe some of you can point out your favorite part, and maybe I can expand something based off of your pick.
Who knows?
"Ramble On"
I have a conformity issue.
I can't get comfortable enough.
I can't stand you.
We shout and we plead.
No one's listening.
It doesn't surprise me.
But it has the same effect, time after time.
How hard is it to just be?
To wake up, breathe, go through a routine?
Why do we have to complicate everything?
It's trapping me.
I'm a prisoner.
Of time, of circumstance.
Of my own comfort zone.
Those who used to rescue me,
well, they're on the other side now.
They're the oppressors.
They're the oppressors.
I only write prose, rambles, raves.
The conformity issue that makes me uncomfortable
makes it impossible for anything else to come.
The pen touches the paper.
Stays there.
Stationary on stationery.
When it all started, we said
"Go with the flow."
It seemed smart at the time.
We had no idea what we were doing.
We just made it easier.
And now, there's no way out.
The conformity issue makes me uncomfortable
with the population.
